Kansas City Chiefs Top receiver was arrested Friday night on suspicion of strangling a family or household member, according to online records obtained by DailyMail.com.
If convicted of the charge, “assault against a family or household member by impeding breathing or circulation,” Worthy could face up to 10 years in prison.
Worthy’s legal team has denied the allegations in a public statement, and further details surrounding the arrest have not been made public. DailyMail.com has reached out to Texas law enforcement and the Williamson County District Attorney’s office for additional information.
At just 21 years old, Worthy has been engaged to sprinter Tia Jones since last July. The couple has shared that they purchased a home together in Williamson County, Texas, though it’s unclear if the alleged incident occurred at that location.

A former Texas Longhorns standout and renowned speedster, Worthy was selected by the Chiefs in the first round of the 2024 draft. As a rookie, he caught 59 passes for 638 yards and six touchdowns. He also recorded a touchdown reception in the AFC Championship victory over the Buffalo Bills and added two more in the Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Chiefs representatives told DailyMail.com that the team is “aware” of the arrest and is “gathering information.” The publication has also reached out to Worthy’s representatives at Creative Artists Agency for comment.
