Major Breaking: Notre Dame Fighting Irish confirm Big news regarding 5-star Prospect

South Bend is buzzing, but not necessarily in a positive way as the 2025 season approaches. Marcus Freeman is facing a quarterback battle with no clear frontrunner following the departure of Riley Leonard, who led Notre Dame to a stunning national championship win against Ohio State and is now off to the NFL.

The three contenders? Veteran Steve Angeli, dynamic talent Kenny Minchey, and five-star prospect CJ Carr. However, Carr’s journey hit a snag last season due to an elbow injury, which has added uncertainty to Freeman’s QB dilemma.

On March 7th, Notre Dame insider Jack Soble provided updates on Carr’s recovery during the ‘Notre Dame Football on Blue & Gold’ podcast. Soble explained that Carr’s rehab was a deliberate, 10-to-12-week process that went smoothly. Although Carr wasn’t rushed due to his non-starter status, he’s now fully recovered and ready to participate in spring ball. This was confirmed by On3’s Tyler Horka, who reported that Carr is officially cleared for full participation in spring practices, marking a significant step for the redshirt freshman as he enters a competitive QB battle.

While Carr’s return is certainly big news, it doesn’t immediately shake up the quarterback landscape at Notre Dame. The competition remains fierce, with Freeman weighing his options between the experienced Angeli, the potential of Minchey, and the now-healthy Carr. As spring practices begin, the battle for the starting quarterback spot is heating up, but there’s no clear winner just yet.
