With the NHL trade deadline approaching, the Buffalo Sabres revealed on Wednesday that they have extended forward contract for two more years. The extension has an average annual value (AAV) of $4 million.
The 28-year-old is now under contract through the 2026-2027 season. Since joining the Sabres in 2023, Greenway has played in 110 games, collecting 40 points (17 goals, 23 assists).
Although this season has been affected by injury for Greenway, including two separate absences due to a mid-body injury, he has still managed eight points in 26 games and remains a physical force on the ice, making an impact in the games he has played.

Greenway is currently in the final year of a three-year deal with a $3 million cap hit and was set to become an unrestricted free agent. With this extension, he will now reach that status in 2027.
The Sabres originally acquired Greenway from the Minnesota Wild during the 2023 trade deadline, sending a 2023 second-round pick and a 2024 fifth-round pick in return. Those picks were used to select Riley Heidt (2023-64) and Sebastian Soini (2024-140).
