Commanders land deal for Carolina Panthers RB In Shocking Move

The Washington Commanders have already strengthened their roster by trading for Deebo Samuel, though the deal won’t be official until the new league year begins. With free agency still a few weeks away and the NFL Draft following soon after, the Commanders have plenty of time to address several roster needs, particularly on the offensive and defensive lines. While Samuel has partially resolved their receiver situation, they’re expected to bring in another wide receiver, potentially through the draft. Picking at No. 29, the Commanders will need to be patient in the first round. In Yahoo Sports’ latest mock draft, they make an unexpected choice, selecting North Carolina’s talented player. “Surprise? A second running back enters the first round with Hampton being picked here,” Yahoo Sports writes. “Hampton and Jayden Daniels would form a powerful backfield in Washington, potentially helping the Commanders make another deep playoff run.” Some consider Hampton to be the top running back in the draft over Ashton Jeanty. Over the past two seasons, Hampton has accumulated more than 1,500 yards and 15 touchdowns each year, showcasing his impressive ability.

Cleveland's Omarion Hampton, the top 2022 RB in the state, has started his junior season with a bang

Running a 4.46 40-yard dash, Hampton possesses big-play potential out of the backfield, and pairing him with Brian Robinson Jr., Jayden Daniels, and Deebo Samuel in Kliff Kingsbury’s offense would create an exciting and dynamic group. Hampton is a strong downhill runner, tough to bring down once he gains momentum. As a true bell cow back, he can also contribute in the passing game, something Kingsbury is known for incorporating into his offense. While it would be an unexpected pick, adding Hampton to Washington’s offense would be a thrilling move.
