Breaking: Cameron Payne Suspended for One Game
The NBA has handed down a one-game suspension without pay to Phoenix Suns guard Cameron Payne for his role in an altercation during Tuesday’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers.
According to the league, Payne was suspended for “making contact with an opponent and failing to leave the court in a timely manner after his ejection.”

The incident occurred with 10:38 remaining in the fourth quarter, when Payne was involved in a shoving match with Lakers forward Rui Hachimura. Both players were ejected from the game.
Payne will serve his suspension during the Suns’ next game against the Golden State Warriors on Thursday.
The Suns organization has not commented on the suspension, but head coach Frank Vogel expressed his disappointment with the altercation after the game.
“We don’t want to see our players involved in stuff like that,” Vogel said. “We want to compete with class and sportsmanship.”
Payne has been a key contributor off the bench for the Suns this season, averaging 10.3 points and 5.5 assists per game. His suspension will likely mean more playing time for backup guard Damion Lee.
