A major storyline in Georgia football’s 2024 season was the number of injuries they endured, particularly on the offensive line and in the running back position. These injuries had a substantial effect on the Bulldogs’ overall performance. Unfortunately, the trend of injuries has continued into the offseason, as Graham Coffey of Dawgs Central reported that two key defensive players recently underwent surgeries.
The first Georgia player to recently have surgery is cornerback, who underwent an operation for a sports hernia shortly after the conclusion of the season. As of now, it’s uncertain how much Everette will be able to participate in spring practice. He may be involved in a limited way, but there’s also a possibility he could miss the entire spring session. However, he’s expected to be fully healthy well before the 2025 season begins, so there’s no concern about him missing regular-season time.
Defensive lineman Christen Miller is the second player recently reported to have had surgery. He underwent an operation to repair a torn labrum in his shoulder. It’s likely that Miller will miss all of spring practice, but, like Everette, he’s expected to fully recover before the season starts. The fact that both players are expected to return well before the regular season is significant, as both are projected to be key contributors, if not starters, on Georgia’s defense. Losing either of them would have been a major setback, but if they only miss spring practice, it’s probably the best outcome.
