Pressure Mounts for Bulldogs as Michigan Maintains Edge in Race for Hiter

Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs are close to securing the top running back in the 2026 recruiting class, Savion Hiter, but they still have work to do.

Savion Hiter locks in game visits

According to Steve Wiltfong of On3, Georgia is a contender, but Michigan remains the team Hiter is most interested in.

“Michigan is still the program to beat heading into the next round of visits, but Georgia and Tennessee are right there,” Wiltfong said. “He’s also keeping Ohio State in the mix. Hiter plans to return to Tennessee for a spring practice on April 5 and is trying to visit Ohio State and Georgia for spring practices.”

Wiltfong also mentioned that while Hiter has visited Georgia three times recently, Michigan “continues to lead the way.”

Hiter, a five-star running back from Mineral, Virginia, is the top prospect in his state and ranked 21st nationally in his class.

In his 2024 junior season at Louisa County High School, he rushed for 1,060 yards on 150 carries, averaging 117 yards per game.

The Bulldogs will have another opportunity to make their case when Hiter returns to Athens for an official visit on June 6.
