As spring training kicks off, the Boston Red Sox are excited about the arrival of third baseman Alex Bregman, but the starting rotation is already facing some challenges due to injuries. Red Sox starter who reported shoulder soreness in the first week of camp, has taken a brief break from throwing and underwent imaging, which showed no major issues.
He is expected to resume his throwing routine next week as he prepares for the 2025 season. The 25-year-old right-hander is looking to have a breakout year after posting a 4.59 ERA and 153 strikeouts over 162.1 innings in 2024.

This will be Bello’s fourth season in the majors, and he’s been a reliable presence in the Red Sox rotation, logging over 150 innings in each of the last two years. While Boston had hoped Bello would emerge as one of their aces, the additions of Garrett Crochet and Walker Buehler should help take some of the pressure off. While it’s crucial for all of Boston’s starters to stay healthy, this shoulder issue appears to be a minor setback, and Bello is on track for a strong 2025 campaign.
