The Oregon Ducks are building momentum to secure five-star quarterback Jared Curtis, who recently decommitted from the Georgia Bulldogs. Curtis is regarded as the top quarterback prospect in the 2026 class. Oregon’s head coach, Dan Lanning, already has a commitment from Jonas Williams.
The Oregon Ducks are among the top three schools in the running for five-star quarterback Jared Curtis from the class of 2026, with Georgia and South Carolina also in the mix.
According to a report by On3’s Steve Wiltfong, Oregon is gaining traction with Curtis. He has scheduled official visits to Oregon, Georgia, and South Carolina in June, with On3 currently favoring Oregon as the frontrunner to secure his commitment.
“The intel currently favors Oregon, but Curtis continues to work through his process,” Wiltfong stated, adding that Georgia is considered the biggest competitor.
Curtis initially committed to Georgia in March 2024 but decommitted in October, though Georgia remains a strong contender. In a statement on Instagram after his decommitment, Curtis explained, “I spoke with Coach Smart and Coach Bobo this morning to let them know that I still love Georgia, but I want to take more time to explore my options and make the best decision for my future. I didn’t feel it was right to remain committed while considering other programs.”
Jared Curtis Player Profile
Jared Curtis is a 6’4″, 225-pound quarterback from Nashville, Tennessee, ranked as a five-star recruit and the No. 1 quarterback in the class of 2026 by 247Sports. Curtis, who started his football career as a running back, transitioned to quarterback and quickly stood out. Despite being evaluated after only his freshman season, 247Sports’ scouting director Andrew Ivins recognized Curtis’ talent early on, highlighting his success in leading his team to 10 wins and amassing over 2,750 yards of total offense.
Ivins praised Curtis for his ability to throw deep passes and connect on vertical plays, as well as his accuracy with timing-based routes over the middle. Curtis earned runner-up honors for Tennessee’s Mr. Football award after his freshman season.
Oregon Ducks Quarterback Room
If Jared Curtis commits to Oregon, he will enter a quarterback room currently led by Dante Moore and Akili Smith Jr. Moore, who started for UCLA as a true freshman in 2023 before transferring to Oregon, is set to lead the Ducks’ offense in the 2025 season after backing up Dillon Gabriel in 2024. Smith Jr., a four-star recruit from the class of 2025, is another promising talent in the room.
For the 2026 recruiting class, Oregon already has a commitment from four-star quarterback Jonas Williams. However, Williams has shown interest in USC and LSU, recently visiting USC and head coach Lincoln Riley, raising speculation that he may flip his commitment.
If Curtis chooses Oregon, he would compete with these talented quarterbacks, adding depth and competition to the Ducks’ QB room.
