The Washington suspend physically gifted player indefinitely for failing to meet program standards.
The transfer from Rhode Island, has played in 18 games and started three in his first season with the Huskies. He is averaging 4.9 points, 1.9 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 17.2 minutes per game, showing a significant drop in performance compared to his last season at Rhode Island, where he posted averages of 10.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 30.2 minutes.
He began his college career at Quinnipiac, where he averaged 8.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 21.8 minutes over three seasons. The 6-foot-3, 180-pound guard from the Bronx, N.Y., acknowledged struggling during offseason training with the Huskies last summer and found it difficult to secure consistent playing time in a crowded backcourt early on. His best performance came against UMass Lowell on Nov. 17, when he recorded 10 points, six rebounds, and two assists.

On Jan. 5, Kortright tied his season high and scored 10 points on 4-for-7 shooting, including two three-pointers vs. Illinois.
“He’s played a lot of high-level Division I basketball and been a really good player,” coach Danny Sprinkle said. “Physically, he can play against anybody in the country. He has a tremendous feel for the game. He’s kind of a Swiss army knife. We can play him at the point if we had to. He can make ball screen reads. He can knock down shots. He can drive.
“He helps us space the floor, and we play at a different pace when he’s playing that way.”
Kortright has not played since January 24, when he recorded 16 scoreless minutes in a 65-60 loss to UCLA. He sprained his ankle, which caused him to miss the game against Minnesota on February 1.
