Twins sign Cardinals talented outfielder to bolster depth

The Minnesota Twins have signed a  Glove winner.

The talented player agreed to a contract with the Twins for 2025, with a mutual option for 2026. He will earn a guaranteed $6.24 million, with the potential for up to $2 million in bonuses.

He is known for his exceptional defensive skills in center field. He won a Gold Glove with the St. Louis Cardinals in 2021 and also posted a .267 batting average with a .785 OPS that year, including 21 doubles and 16 home runs. His performance was so impressive that in 2022, Yankees GM Brian Cashman traded pitcher Jordan Montgomery to St. Louis to acquire Bader, even though he was injured at the time.

Bader played for the New York Mets last season, hitting .236 with a .657 OPS, 19 doubles, 12 home runs, and 17 stolen bases.

At 30 years old, Bader is expected to back up Byron Buxton, who has struggled with injuries. He provides the Twins with an additional right-handed bat for the outfield, joining a group that includes Matt Wallner and Trevor Larnach.

The move appears to be well-received by Twins fans.
