Giants confirm to land fruition deal for 2-time Pro Bowl quarterback

The NFL offseason has officially begun for the New York Giants as they start their search for a new quarterback.

With head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen returning for their fourth season following a 3-14 finish, there will be significant pressure to secure a reliable solution at the most crucial position.

Whether the Giants pursue a rookie quarterback, a veteran, or a mix of both remains uncertain. However, there are multiple approaches they could take in an effort to secure their jobs.

While it might seem logical to use the No. 3 overall pick on a rookie quarterback, the Giants could face competition for their desired prospect, as the two teams ahead of them also need a quarterback.

The Giants may also consider trading for a veteran quarterback if it means securing a stable player who can help them contend in the NFC East.

Alex Ballentine of Bleacher Report suggested a surprising blockbuster trade with the Seattle Seahawks. In this potential deal, the Giants would reunite with a two-time Pro Bowl quarterback in exchange for the No. 3 pick.

Seahawks get: OL Jermaine Eluemunor, 2025 first-round pick (No. 3 overall), 2025 fifth-round pick (No. 155 overall)

Giants get: QB Geno Smith, 2025 first-round pick (No. 18 overall), 2025 third-round pick (No. 82 overall)

Geno Smith linked in trade with Seahawks and one surprising team

“Brian Daboll has yet to have a good quarterback since taking the Giants’ job. It’s time that he gets a chance to prove himself with a quarterback who can win right now. Geno Smith might just be the best quarterback who could be available via trade,” Ballentine wrote.

This deal would likely be a tough sell for Giants fans. Even if they miss out on Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders, trading away the opportunity to draft players like Travis Hunter or Abdul Carter just to bring Geno Smith back to New York seems like a move that could backfire.

The Giants aren’t just one quarterback away from being a competitive team. With numerous gaps across the roster, it’s unlikely that Smith would make a significant enough impact to turn things around.

While the current regime might not survive another losing season, they could still salvage their jobs if they land a quarterback who shows promise for the future.

Anything can happen in the NFL, but if the Giants take such a gamble on a middling quarterback, it’s hard to imagine the current front office coming back for a fifth season.
