Matt Rhule and the Nebraska Cornhuskers bolstered their offensive line by securing a major transfer portal addition. The gifted player announced his commitment to Nebraska for the 2025 college football season. He is considered one of the top three inside offensive linemen available in this year’s transfer portal, according to On3 Sports. The 325-pound Michigan native started 23 games for Notre Dame over the last two seasons, including every College Football Playoff game, which culminated in a national championship appearance in January. Spindler brings valuable postseason experience to the Cornhuskers, having played all 63 snaps in the title game loss to Ohio State. He entered the transfer portal just three days after the game. Spindler ultimately chose Nebraska over offers from Indiana, Pittsburgh, Virginia, and Michigan. He joins Rhule’s program with one season of eligibility remaining.

Nebraska made its first bowl-game appearance under Matt Rhule last season, finishing with a 7-6 record. With a strengthened offensive line now in place to protect quarterback Dylan Raiola, the Cornhuskers will begin their 2025 season with a season-opening matchup against the Cincinnati Bearcats on August 28.
