JUST IN: Ohio State QB Will Howard sends one last strong message to Buckeye Nation after the National Championship

Heading into the last season, the Buckeyes’ biggest priority was ensuring their quarterback decision paid off.

After Kyle McCord transferred to Syracuse, Ohio State brought in Will Howard from the transfer portal. Howard proved to be the perfect fit, providing the leadership and playmaking the team needed at quarterback.

His contribution played a key role in the Buckeyes’ National Championship run. The former Kansas State quarterback was exceptional in his sole season in Columbus.

Now, Howard will be turning his focus to the NFL draft process and all that comes with it. Prior to that, the newly crowned champion reflected on his time in Columbus a bit.

What impressed Will Howard most after Ohio State football debut

“I’m just so thankful that I got a chance to be here and to be a Buckeye. I truly believe that God has a plan for all of us and that God’s plan brought me here to Ohio State for a reason,” Howard said recently, via Eleven Warriors. “I’m just so blessed that I got to share this with all of you, with my brothers out here, with my coaches, with my family in the stands, and with my family that is all of you, Buckeye Nation, and the state of Ohio. I love you guys, man. I’m a Buckeye forever. Go Bucks.”

In his senior year at Columbus, Howard threw for 4,010 yards and 35 touchdowns. The fifth-year quarterback had only 10 interceptions and also added seven rushing touchdowns. From the start, Howard developed a strong chemistry with freshman standout Jeremiah Smith, with the duo linking up for four touchdowns during the College Football Playoff run.

Although Howard played just 16 of his 50 college games with the Buckeyes, his time at Ohio State will be unforgettable. Not many players can say they were a National Championship-winning quarterback at Ohio State, but Howard certainly can.
