As the season wraps up, college football fans are already looking forward to the next one. For certain players, 2025 marks the beginning of their professional careers.
Notre Dame’s safety and team captain, who finishes his college career with 189 total tackles, 16 passes defended, 1.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and 13 interceptions, posted a message on social media expressing his gratitude to God, his family, friends, and Fighting Irish fans for being part of his journey.
“I hope that my time in the Irish uniform has helped continue the tradition of those that came before me. Thank you to the fans for embracing me into the Notre Dame Family and I promise to keep striving to make you all proud. I am excited for what God has planned as I get ready for the 2025 NFL Draft.”
Watts committed to Notre Dame as a four-star recruit in the 2020 class, ranked No. 384 in 247Sports’ composite rankings. He chose the Fighting Irish over offers from schools like Michigan, Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, and several others.
The 6-foot, 203-pound safety was a wide receiver in high school before making the switch to defense upon arriving at Notre Dame.
Watts is currently ranked as the No. 3 safety in Matt Miller’s NFL draft player rankings on ESPN, trailing only Georgia’s Malaki Starks and South Carolina’s Nick Emmanwori.
