Virginia Tech bolstered its offense securing top talented transfer with one year of eligibility remaining.
The 6-foot-2, 215-pound star brings versatility to Virginia Tech’s offense, capable of contributing both as a runner and a pass-catcher. Over five years he accumulated 1,954 rushing yards and 24 touchdowns, including a standout 781 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2024. He had notable 100-yard games against Georgia Southern and Louisiana.
He has also proven to be a reliable receiver, with 76 catches for 769 yards and four touchdowns in his career. In 2024, he earned a 79.1 overall offensive grade from Pro Football Focus and was named to the All-Sun Belt honorable mention team.
He becomes the third running back added to Virginia Tech’s roster this cycle, following the departures of Bhayshul Tuten to graduation and Malachi Thomas to the transfer portal. Bennett joins Terion Stewart (Bowling Green) and Marcellous Hawkins (Central Missouri State, D-II). He is the 19th player to join the Hokies through the transfer portal this period.
