The Pittsburgh Steelers have further expanded their 90-man roster at the start of the offseason, announcing the signing of former Los Angeles Rams cornerback to a reserve/futures contract on Tuesday afternoon.
He began his college career at Gardner-Webb in 2018, recording 14 tackles and a forced fumble in 10 games as a freshman. In 2019, he played in 11 games, finishing with 54 tackles and three passes defended. During his final season at Gardner-Webb in 2020, he accumulated 19 tackles and his first career interception in four games.
In 2021, he transferred to Western Carolina, where he posted 47 tackles, two interceptions, four passes defended, and a fumble recovery in 11 games. The following year, he recorded 32 tackles, four passes defended, and another fumble recovery over the course of 11 games.
After going undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft, McCutcheon signed with the Los Angeles Rams. He played 139 snaps during the preseason as a rookie before being waived during final roster cuts. After clearing waivers, McCutcheon was added to the Rams’ practice squad but was released on November 21. He returned to the team the following week, signing a futures contract for the offseason.
In the most recent preseason, McCutcheon played 123 snaps but once again failed to make the Rams’ 53-man roster and was not re-signed to their practice squad after going unclaimed on waivers.
