The Arizona Cardinals have added another gifted player to their roster. He spent the entire previous season on the Steelers’ practice squad but did not see any game action. After the season, Pittsburgh chose not to offer him a future contract.
A 2020 sixth-round draft pick by the Philadelphia Eagles, Watkins played his entire rookie contract with the team, accumulating 1,249 yards over four seasons. However, he saw his role diminish last season in Philadelphia due to inconsistent performances, and his struggles continued during the summer.
Coming out of Southern Mississippi, he impressed with a remarkable 40-yard dash time of 4.35 seconds. However, during his time in Philadelphia, while he occasionally explored a role as a returner, he struggled to fully develop as a wide receiver, facing issues with route running and dropped passes.
