Penn State Receives More Bad News As Another Top-Notch Player Enters The Transfer Portal

The Penn State Nittany Lions, led by head coach James Franklin, had a strong season, finishing 13-3 overall and 8-1 in Big Ten play. They made it to the College Football Playoff as the No. 6 seed and, after victories over No. 11 SMU and No. 3 Boise State, came close to reaching the national championship but were defeated by No. 7 Notre Dame. Now that the season has ended, Penn State and Franklin are focused on the future, which, like for many teams, involves leveraging the transfer portal. However, they are facing a setback as safety  has announced his decision to enter the transfer portal, according to @On3sports.

Penn State Safeties Tyrece Mills, Mehki Flowers No Longer With the Program | State College, PA

Mills began his college career at Lackawanna Community College during the 2020-2021 season and was ranked as the No. 11 JUCO prospect in the 2022 class before signing with Penn State.

Since joining Penn State, Mills has had a limited role, recording only 17 tackles and one interception. However, his most notable moment with the team came in the Fiesta Bowl against Boise State, where he intercepted quarterback Maddux Madsen with 18 seconds remaining to seal a 31-14 victory.

Fortunately for Franklin and the Nittany Lions, the impact of Mills’ departure is somewhat softened by the fact that on Sunday, they secured a commitment from transfer safety King Mack, who was previously at Alabama.
