LATEST: Cincinnati Reds confirm the signing of 27-year-old gifted player

The Cincinnati Reds have signed left-handed pitcher to a minor league contract. He spent the 2024 season within the Atlanta Braves organization, pitching in 27 games for Double-A and making two appearances at Triple-A.

Originally drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the 8th round of the 2019 draft out of Florida State, Parrish advanced through the Royals’ minor league system and reached Triple-A but was unable to make it to the major leagues. After being released by the Royals following the 2023 season, Parrish signed with Atlanta when minor league free agency began in November.

Parrish had a solid first half of the season with Double-A Mississippi, but he truly excelled in the second half. From June 26 through the end of the season, the left-hander posted a 2.15 ERA over 46 innings, splitting time between the rotation and bullpen. He struck out 47 batters, walked just nine, and limited opponents to a .204/.247/.287 line, allowing only six extra-base hits.

While Parrish’s stuff isn’t overpowering—his fastball typically sits in the upper 80s to low 90s, reaching a top speed of 93-94 MPH on occasion—he also features a slider, changeup, and a slow curveball in the upper 60s to low 70s.

The Reds, in need of pitching depth after using 31 pitchers (and one position player, Luke Maile, as a pitcher) in the 2024 season, are adding Parrish as another potential option. Given his strong second-half performance in 2024, particularly out of the bullpen, he could provide valuable depth for the Reds moving forward.
