JUST IN: Red Sox $140 Million Star Gets Honest About an eight-time All-Star and 10-time Gold Glove winner Possibility

The Boston Red Sox have been the team most frequently linked to St. Louis Cardinals star Nolan Arenado this offseason, with rumors suggesting that a potential trade could be in the works. Arenado, an eight-time All-Star and 10-time Gold Glove winner, has three years remaining on his contract. The Cardinals appear eager to trade him, while the Red Sox are in need of a right-handed bat, which makes this an intriguing possibility.

One person particularly familiar with Arenado is Red Sox shortstop Trevor Story, who played alongside him with the Colorado Rockies from 2016 to 2020. Story addressed the Arenado trade rumors in a recent interview with NESN.com, expressing his excitement about the potential move.

“Obviously that seems like a cool idea and we would love that,” Story said. “I think he would thrive in Boston just given his intensity, his love for the game, his passion for the game. He’s a superstar, man. I don’t think we’re turning down anybody that wants to play in Boston and wants to do it. Obviously a cool idea, but a lot of things need to happen for that…”

Story also spoke about his friendship with Arenado, noting, “Nolan is one of my best friends and obviously when you hear that type of speculation, you can get excited about it a little bit. I just know the type of player that he is, the intensity that he brings, just the work ethic that he can provide from a leadership standpoint, too. He’s one of the guys that I learned from.”

Story signed a six-year, $140 million contract with the Red Sox after leaving Colorado. With both former Rockies stars now in Boston, the idea of a reunion in Beantown could be a thrilling prospect for fans.
