HUGE BLOW: What a sad news!! Padres $24 Million Star Betray San Diego, Sign With Rising NL Contender

The San Diego Padres’ offseason has been somewhat uneventful so far. Reports suggest the team is exploring trade options for star players like Dylan Cease and Luis Arráez, but no deals seem imminent for either. Additionally, San Diego is looking to re-sign standout outfielder Jurickson Profar, who is coming off a career-best year, hitting .280/.380/.459 with 24 home runs and 29 doubles. This performance earned him his first Silver Slugger and All-Star appearance.

Profar is projected to sign a two-year, $25 million deal, according to Spotrac, but it’s unlikely he’ll settle for such a low amount. Given his performance, he could easily command a contract closer to three years and $50 million, which would not be surprising. Even though he struggled in 2023, Profar had solid years in 2022 and 2024, and a team like the Cincinnati Reds could be inclined to make a move for him at that price.

The Reds, who recently added Gavin Lux as a super-utility player, still have a gap in their outfield, particularly on the right-handed side. With most of their outfielders being left-handed, adding a player like Profar would provide a significant upgrade, allowing him to play regularly. Under new manager Terry Francona, the Reds have made positive moves, and bringing in Profar would strengthen their roster further, while potentially causing the Padres regret in the long term.
