HUGE BOOST: Virginia Cavaliers land blockbuster commitment for top talented player

The 2025 Virginia Cavaliers football team improved today with the expected addition of former Michigan State offensive lineman, as initially reported by Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports/247sports.

A  6’5″ interior offensive lineman, will address an immediate need for the Cavaliers. He becomes Tony Elliott’s third offensive lineman signing from this offseason’s transfer portal, joining Brady Wilson from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and Tyshawn Wyatt from James Madison University.

A native of New Jersey, he transferred to Illinois from Michigan State after the 2023 season. He played over 500 snaps, featured in all 12 games, and started in six of Illinois’ conference matchups.

During his time at Illinois, he played sparingly, appearing in just three games, with his last action coming in late September against Penn State. He was outperformed by promising sophomore Brandon Henderson, who recorded PFF scores of 68.2 in run blocking, 57.1 in pass blocking, and 65.5 for his overall offensive performance.

Kevin Wigenton II, Illinois, Offensive Line

On the PFF front, Wigenton earned an overall grade of 67.9 in 2023, ranking 16th among the 628 guards who met the snap minimum for the season.

Despite the limited field time, this is yet another solid addition for Virginia this offseason. Tony Elliott is clearly making thoughtful moves to address the team’s needs and deserves recognition for his efforts in strengthening key position groups.
