Three ECU football players who were expected to start on defense have announced they are entering the transfer portal.
Cornerback Isaiah Brown-Murray, linebacker Zakye Barker, and defensive lineman C.J. Mims all shared on X that they have entered the portal and still have two years of eligibility remaining.
Brown-Murray expressed his gratitude, writing, “A special thank you to Coach Jules, Coach Harrell, and Coach Houston for their guidance, mentorship, and the opportunities they’ve given me to grow both on and off the field.”

Barker also shared a heartfelt message, saying, “To Pirate Nation, thank you for your support through thick and thin. Your love strongly influenced my decision to commit here 3 years ago. This experience could not have been the same without you.”
In addition to the player departures, ECU has parted ways with Director of Strength and Conditioning Jon Williams. Williams, a Greenville native, joined the program in 2018 when Mike Houston came over from James Madison University. He was informed this weekend that the program would be going in a different direction.
The Pirates are set to face NC State in the Military Bowl on December 28th.
