The No. 6 seed Penn State Nittany Lions are set to face the No. 5 seed Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the semifinals of the 2024-25 College Football Playoff. The two college football powerhouses will meet in the Orange Bowl on Thursday, Jan. 9, at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium.
Penn State began its playoff journey with a “White Out” victory over No. 11 seed SMU at Beaver Stadium. In Round 2, the Nittany Lions impressed their fans with a Fiesta Bowl win over No. 3 seed Boise State at Arizona’s State Farm Stadium. Now, Penn State is calling on its supporters to continue the momentum for the upcoming matchup against Notre Dame. The team shared a simple message on Friday: “Take Over Hard Rock.”
So far, the Nittany Lions have dominated in both of their College Football Playoff games. They easily defeated SMU 38-10 in the first round and followed that up with a 31-14 victory over Boise State. Notre Dame, however, is expected to be Penn State’s toughest challenge yet. Under head coach Marcus Freeman, the Fighting Irish first defeated Indiana at home before securing a big win over the Georgia Bulldogs in the Sugar Bowl on Thursday.
