Tatum Keeps Celtics Hot: Key Update as Boston Battles Without Porziņģis, Brown

The Boston Celtics haven’t seemed like themselves over the past month. They’ve already equaled their home loss total from their championship season and struggled to maintain their identity. They wrapped up the year with an inconsistent 3-3 stretch, setting up a challenging road trip to kick off 2025.

Despite missing Kristaps Porziņģis and Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum led the Celtics with 33 points in a 118-115 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves, putting them at 1-0 for the new year.

“We’ve had a tough stretch over the last eight or nine games,” Tatum told TNT’s Allie LaForce after the game. “This January, we’re focused on turning things around and getting back to our identity. Coming into a tough road environment against a strong team, missing two of our best players, and still finding a way to win – you’ll take that any day.”

The road ahead remains difficult for Boston, with upcoming matchups against Western Conference contenders like the Houston Rockets, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Denver Nuggets. It will be a challenge, but also the perfect chance for the Celtics to reassert their dominance and reset their standard for 2025.

“Take it one game at a time,” Tatum added. “I loved how we competed tonight, and our physicality was on point. That’s what it’s going to take moving forward.”
