Deal Imminent: Red Sox Confirm To Land Blockbuster Trade For $427 Million Toronto Blue Jays Superstar

The Boston Red Sox have made some moves to improve after a disappointing 2024 season, but they haven’t yet made any game-changing acquisitions. That could change if they land a talent like Alex Bregman in free agency, though it appears the Red Sox are gradually falling out of the running for him. If they miss out on Bregman completely, they’ll need to make a significant move to salvage their offseason. Cody Williams of FanSided recently suggested that the Red Sox could pursue a major trade for rival superstar Vladimir Guerrero Jr. if they strike out on Bregman. Of course, this would depend on whether the Toronto Blue Jays are even considering trading him, which remains uncertain at this point.

“The Red Sox have long felt like the best next landing spot for Guerrero and it’s hard for me to also not think that some of the slow-playing we’ve seen in this offseason from (Craig) Breslow is with eyes on Vladdy next winter,” Williams wrote. “But they could also jumpstart that process by offering someone like Marcelo Mayer and a bevy of other prospects. Even after the (Garrett) Crochet trade, Boston has one of the best farm systems in baseball that could absolutely help the Blue Jays start a new chapter post-Vladdy and Bo Bichette.”

A reason to doubt the NY Mets will go full bore after Vladimir Guerrero Jr. next winter

While it’s highly unlikely the Blue Jays will trade Vladimir Guerrero Jr., if they do decide to move him, the Red Sox could be the top suitor. Toronto might be hesitant to trade a superstar to a division rival, but the Red Sox could offer the most enticing package. Players like Triston Casas, Wilyer Abreu, Marcelo Mayer, and other top prospects could be included in a potential deal, making it a strong offer for the Blue Jays to consider.
