After just one season at Washington under coach Jedd Fisch, the 6-foot-1 cornerback is now ready to listen to what other schools have to offer, having re-entered the transfer portal. He was a redshirt freshman at Indiana in 2023 before entering the portal and committing to Fisch while he was still at Arizona in mid-December, started 9 games for the Huskies this season and played in all 13, mostly at nickel back.
“Thank You Husky Nation for everything. I’ve been so thankful to be apart of this amazing program. I will forever be grateful for the life long relationships built at the University and the entire Husky Family. With that being said I will be entering my name in the transfer portal,” He wrote in a post on social media announcing his decision Wednesday night. Shortly after the Los Angeles native made his decision public another now-former UW player, North Carolina linebacker Khmori House, made his own initial recruiting pitch writing “Pull up brotha!”, indicating the talented DB could rejoin defensive coordinator Steve Belichick in Chapel Hill.
Shaw emerged as one of the more reliable tacklers for Belichick at Washington last season, recording 37 tackles (21 solo) and earning a 75.6 tackle grade from Pro Football Focus, which ranked sixth on the team. The Huskies also saw junior Dyson McCutcheon log 173 snaps in the slot behind Shaw. Since the Sun Bowl ended Tuesday, Shaw has not ruled out returning for another season in 2025, which could have influenced his decision to enter the transfer portal. Additionally, with UW having several young cornerbacks, including redshirt freshmen Leroy Bryant and Caleb Presley—who are academically in the same class as Shaw—and incoming 2025 recruits D’Aryhian Clemons, Jonathan Epperson Jr., and potentially Rylon Dillard-Allen, the roster’s scholarship limits for the 2025 season may have also played a role in Shaw’s choice to explore other opportunities.
