East Carolina’s football program continued to make significant moves in the transfer portal on Sunday, with top offensive back target announcing his commitment to the Pirates. The Newberry (S.C.) College offensive lineman had visited ECU earlier in the week before also touring Charlotte. Trnavsky will join ECU for his final year of eligibility.
Trnavsky is one of three offensive linemen to commit on the same day, alongside Lievi Semaia from El Camino College. A third offensive line commitment, yet to be publicly revealed, has also joined the Pirates.
Standing 6-foot-5 and weighing 295 pounds, Trnavsky is a multi-year starter and an all-conference selection for Newberry College at the Division II level. He primarily played on the right side of the line, seeing time at both guard and tackle. On film, he demonstrates strong footwork, solid base strength, and good athleticism. Trnavsky also received offers from Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, UMass, Ohio, Middle Tennessee State, Miami (OH), Eastern Michigan, UTEP, Colorado State, and several other FCS programs.
With ECU losing starting left tackle Parker Moorer, senior center Dustyn Hall, and versatile guard Hampton Ergle, the incoming offensive linemen, particularly Trnavsky, will likely have the opportunity to compete for immediate playing time due to their talent and experience.
Trnavsky, a native of Spartanburg, South Carolina, attended Dorman High School before moving on to Newberry College.
East Carolina is entering the second season under its current offensive staff, which includes offensive coordinator John David Baker and offensive line coach Matt Mattox. The Pirates averaged 32.5 points and 433.3 yards per game during the regular season, finishing with a 7-5 record and 5-3 in The American. Blake Harrell took over as head coach late in the season, guiding ECU to a bowl game after going 4-1 down the stretch. The Pirates’ 2024 season will conclude on December 28 against NC State in the Military Bowl.
