MAJOR BLOW: Texas A&M Aggies Confirm more Bad New as TE Declares for 2025 NFL Draft Just After a heartbreaking loss to the USC Trojans

After a tough defeat to the USC Trojans in the Las Vegas Bowl on Friday night, Texas A&M tight end Tre Watson has announced that he will move on to the next phase of his career.

Watson revealed on X (formerly Twitter) that he is declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft after spending four seasons in college football.

Here’s his full statement:

A native of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, Watson was initially a three-star recruit in the 2021 class. He received offers from schools such as Army, Texas State, New Mexico, Liberty, New Mexico State, and others before choosing to commit to Fresno State. Watson played three seasons with the Bulldogs before transferring to Texas A&M last offseason.

In his only season with the Aggies, Watson recorded 21 receptions for 280 yards and one touchdown, with his lone touchdown coming in a 21-17 victory over Arkansas on September 28. In the loss to USC, he caught three passes for 42 yards. At Fresno State, Watson amassed 56 catches for 592 yards and four touchdowns, with his most impressive season being 2023, when he set career highs in catches (38), receiving yards (378), and touchdowns (four).

Watson’s departure adds to the Aggies’ tight end losses, as Jaden Platt also transferred to Arkansas. However, Texas A&M has bolstered its tight end depth through the transfer portal, adding Nate Boerkircher from Nebraska and Micah Riley from Auburn.

Looking ahead, the Aggies will focus on building off their first season under head coach Mike Elko as they enter the offseason.
