BREAKING: Penn State Nittany Lions QB Drew Allar Release a Confused Heartbreaking Statement on his new backup quarterback and true freshman after a rough patch

Just as James Franklin and the Penn State Nittany Lions were gearing up to celebrate their big victory over the SMU Mustangs, a potential setback emerged. Backup quarterback Beau Pribula considered transferring. However, Penn State fans were relieved when starting quarterback Drew Allar confirmed he would return for the 2025 season. While Pribula’s departure seemed possible, Allar expressed his support for his new backup quarterback, true freshman Ethan Grunkemeyer.

The 2024 season has been remarkable for Franklin’s team, especially with the No. 6 Nittany Lions making their first-ever College Football Playoff appearance. Despite a minor setback when Pribula entered the transfer portal, Penn State quickly found confidence in Grunkemeyer as the backup QB. Allar, reflecting on the program’s success, credited its strong culture. He stated, “I think overall it’s our culture” and emphasized the unique bond between players, coaching staff, and support team. Allar acknowledged how senior leaders, like Sean Clifford, had mentored him when he arrived, helping him develop into the player he is today.

Now, as the leader of the offense, Allar is taking on the role of guiding younger players, including Grunkemeyer. He praised Grunkemeyer for growing mentally, thanks to the daily competition against Penn State’s defense. Allar is confident that, with teamwork, mistakes from past games—like the costly turnovers against Oregon—won’t be repeated. As the Nittany Lions prepare for the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl, Allar is focused on Boise State, watching film and refining his approach while also enjoying time with his family during the holidays. Allar is committed to his routine, including reviewing game footage, which he genuinely enjoys. With Allar’s leadership, Penn State hopes to continue their successful run into the next round of the College Football Playoff.
