BREAKING: West Virginia Mountaineers confirm unexpected blow as another super talent enters the transfer portal

On Friday morning, SI reported that West Virginia top talented player has entered the transfer portal.

The gifted player who was expected to compete for playing time at center as a true freshman under the previous coaching staff, missed several weeks of development due to a lower-body injury.

A product of Good Counsel High School in Olney, Maryland, he chose West Virginia over offers from a wide range of schools, including Boston College, Cincinnati, Connecticut, Duke, Florida State, Liberty, Louisville, Maryland, Miami, Michigan, Michigan State, NC State, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Penn State, Tennessee, and others.

He will have four years of eligibility remaining.

A technically sound and highly skilled football player, Altuner excels at sealing and walling off defenders in zone run-blocking schemes.

He also demonstrates impressive quickness in reaching the second level on gap schemes and pulls much better than the typical right tackle. His ability to succeed in multiple run-blocking schemes, combined with his high football IQ, makes him an ideal fit at center—where he will play at West Virginia. With excellent knee bend and a consistent, controlled balance in pass protection, Altuner’s skill set should easily translate to the interior of the line. I expect WVU to leverage his athleticism, especially by having him pull regularly to lead in the run game. He is, without a doubt, my top recruit in this class for the Mountaineers, with very few concerns regarding his potential.
