The South Carolina Gamecocks have reportedly secured a major NIL deal with quarterback , ensuring his commitment to the team for the future. Here’s what this means for the Gamecocks.
In today’s college football landscape, talent at key positions like quarterback commands significant compensation. So, after leading the Gamecocks to a strong 9-3 record in his first year as starter, Sellers was expected to attract attention from other programs — even though he never entered the NCAA Transfer Portal.
While Sellers didn’t officially declare for a transfer, reports indicated that rival SEC teams were eager to recruit him. However, South Carolina has reportedly addressed these concerns by locking him into a lucrative deal that will keep him in Columbia through the 2025 season.
Maintaining stability at quarterback is crucial, especially for the Gamecocks as they prepare to transition to a new offensive coordinator, Mike Shula, following Dowell Loggains’ departure to become Appalachian State’s head coach.
Along with keeping Sellers, South Carolina also added Ohio State transfer Air Noland, who has four years of eligibility remaining. Noland is expected to serve as the backup quarterback for the Gamecocks in 2025.
