BREAKING: West Virginia Mountaineers land blockbuster commitment for another top decorated WR

A former wide receiver for Martinsburg High School and Jacksonville State, has announced his commitment to play at WVU. He played under the guidance of new WVU head coach Rich Rodriguez for two seasons at Jacksonville State.

In addition  another former Martinsburg Bulldog, also committed to play for West Virginia.

He was named the 2019 MetroNews Player of the Year after leading Martinsburg High School to a perfect 14-0 season and the Class AAA state championship. In his senior year, he totaled 1,078 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns.

He played for his high school coach, David Walker, at Concord University for three seasons before transferring to Jacksonville State. In 2022, he was a finalist for the prestigious Harlon Hill Trophy, awarded to the Division II Player of the Year. That season, Bowie recorded 102 receptions for 1,773 yards and 18 touchdowns, earning Mountain East Conference Offensive Player of the Year honors.

In 2023, He appeared in three games for Jacksonville State, finishing the season with 13 catches for 209 yards while playing in all 14 games for the Conference USA Champions. In the Cure Bowl against Ohio, he had a standout performance, catching four passes for 107 yards.

Jacob Barrick has appeared in 30 games over three seasons at Jacksonville State as a tight end. He was part of the team that won the Class AAA state championship in 2021.

On the same day, former Tulsa offensive lineman Walter Young Bear committed to play at WVU. A native of Oklahoma, Young Bear started for three seasons with the Golden Hurricane. He joins South Alabama cornerback Jordan Scruggs and Eastern Michigan receiver Oran Singleton as recent commitments to WVU since Rich Rodriguez’s hiring.

Additionally, former WVU running back CJ Donaldson announced he is transferring to Ohio State after spending three seasons with the Mountaineers.
