For the second consecutive week, an injury to David Njoku is putting his availability for the game in question—this time for Week 17
Njoku participated in just one practice leading up to Week 16, which took place on Friday before the weekend. It’s clear that both he and the team are cautiously testing his hamstring, trying to assess how it responds to light practice and whether he can properly warm up before the game. If he’s unable to play, expect quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson to face a challenging matchup.
Aside from Njoku, the only player confirmed to be out for the game is defensive lineman Shelby Harris. Harris, who suffered an elbow injury in Week 15 against the Kansas City Chiefs, will miss this game. With the Browns’ playoff hopes already dashed, there’s no reason to risk further injury to the veteran defensive lineman.
Rookie defensive end Mike Hall Jr. is expected to take on a significant role in Harris’ absence, particularly as the Browns face a high-powered Program
Other Injury Updates for the Browns:
The Browns are also dealing with injuries to two key offensive players—Cedric Tillman and Jameis Winston. Tillman, who has been sidelined for a month due to a concussion, will miss his fifth straight game in Week 17 as he has not cleared concussion protocol. Hopefully, his long-term health is not at risk.
Meanwhile, Winston, who was a late scratch ahead of Week 16, suffered a shoulder injury in practice and will serve as the third-string quarterback behind Bailey Zappe and Thompson-Robinson. While this may affect the depth chart, it’s not expected to significantly impact the Browns’ offense, as it was already known that Winston wouldn’t start in Week 16.
