The Dallas Mavericks lost to the LA Clippers on Thursday night at the American Airlines Center. Dallas struggled to compensate for the absence of its two star players.
Doncic was sidelined due to a left heel contusion, while Irving missed the game because of right shoulder soreness. Irving practiced on Friday and has been removed from the injury report, but Doncic did not participate in practice. Although he was seen taking shots during Mavericks’ practice (via Grant Afseth of Dallas Hoops Journal), Doncic is not yet ready to return to action.
For their rematch against the Clippers on Saturday, the Mavericks released an official injury report confirming Doncic is still out. His injury is being taken seriously as he remains sidelined.
Grant Afseth of Dallas Hoops Journal reported: “Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Dončić (left heel contusion) is listed out against the LA Clippers. Kyrie Irving is no longer on the injury report.”
Irving’s return will provide a boost for the Mavericks, but Doncic’s absence remains a significant challenge. The team had been performing well before Thursday’s loss, but missing both star players was too much to overcome. With Irving back, Dallas will aim to bounce back against their Western Conference rivals.
