The top RB had a standout 2024 season at Washington State and opted to enter the transfer portal. On Friday, he announced his next destination for the upcoming season.
Parker shared on his Instagram that he would be joining the Utah Utes for the 2024 season. Washington State has seen 24 players depart through the portal, with no new additions.
A significant factor in the high number of transfers is that head coach Jake Dickert is leaving for the head coach position at Wake Forest, following the resignation of Dave Clawson, who had been the head coach since 2014.
Dickert’s tenure at Washington State spanned from 2021 to 2024, with a record of 23-20.
Parker finished second on the team with 735 rushing yards and four touchdowns. Quarterback John Mateer, who led the team with 826 rushing yards, has transferred to Oklahoma.
Parker, a former three-star recruit in the 2024 class, ranked as the No. 4 running back in the On3 Transfer Portal Industry Rankings.
After the 2023 season, Washington State and Oregon State are the only two remaining teams in the Pac-12, as most teams left to join other Power 4 conferences.
Utah, along with Colorado, Arizona, and Arizona State, joined the Big 12, while UCLA, Oregon, USC, and Washington moved to the Big Ten, and Cal and Stanford joined the ACC.
Washington State started the season 4-0 before suffering a 45-24 loss to Boise State. They recovered with a four-game win streak but ended the regular season with three consecutive losses, finishing at 8-4.
Utah had a tough season, ending 5-7 and missing a bowl game for the first time since 2020 under head coach Kyle Whittingham. The Utes also started 4-0 but lost seven of their last eight games.
Washington State will face Syracuse in the Holiday Bowl to close out the 2024 season, with kickoff scheduled for 8 p.m. ET on Dec. 27, airing on Fox.
