BREAKING: Penn State In Trouble ahead of playoff game against SMU as the only reliable QB enter Tranfer portal..

Penn State quarterback  has announced that he is entering the transfer portal just before the Nittany Lions’ College Football Playoff game against SMU.

In a statement posted on social media, Pribula explained that the timing of the transfer portal window presented a difficult decision for him.

“The current NCAA post-season model creates a challenge for student athletes,” he said. “The overlap between the CFB playoff and transfer portal deadlines has forced me to make a tough choice. After extensive discussions with my family and coaches, it is with a heavy heart that I announce my decision to enter the transfer portal and leave the team to explore other opportunities.”

Although Pribula was not the starting quarterback for Penn State this season, the team frequently used him in specific packages, which they will now have to adjust due to his departure from the team.

Pribula, a sophomore, played in all 13 games this year, recording 275 passing yards, five touchdowns, and one interception on 26-of-35 passing. He also ran for 242 yards and four touchdowns on 38 carries.

His most notable performance came against Wisconsin when starting quarterback Drew Allar was injured in the second half. Pribula completed 11 of 13 pass attempts for 98 yards and a touchdown, adding 28 rushing yards.

In 2023, Pribula accumulated 149 passing yards and four touchdowns, while rushing for 329 yards and six touchdowns.

A native of York, Pennsylvania, Pribula was a 3-star recruit according to the 247Sports Composite and chose Penn State over schools like Nebraska and Northwestern.

Pribula has proven to be a reliable contributor during his time with the Nittany Lions but is now seeking a starting role elsewhere. Unfortunately for Penn State, his departure means they will be without him in the CFP.

If the Nittany Lions defeat SMU, they will advance to face No. 3 Boise State. Although Penn State did not receive a first-round bye, they have a relatively manageable path to the College Football Playoff semifinal, where they could face Georgia, Notre Dame, or Indiana.
