The Oregon Ducks have lost another player to the transfer portal as they gear up for the College Football Playoff.
According to On3’s Pete Nakos on Monday, Oregon defensive back has entered the portal after three seasons with the Ducks. It remains uncertain whether he will stay with the team through the CFP, as some players who have entered the portal with playoff-bound teams are opting to remain for the postseason.
Terrell, a four-star recruit from Shoemaker High School in Killeen, Texas, was a standout on both offense and defense, as well as a dynamic return specialist. He received offers from top programs such as Clemson, USC, Baylor, Mississippi State, LSU, Florida, and Missouri, among others. Oregon extended an offer to him in January 2022, and Terrell committed to the Ducks during his official visit later that month before signing in February 2022. He also visited Baylor and Mississippi State before making his final decision.
Ranked as the No. 29 cornerback and No. 36 overall player in Texas by 247Sports, Terrell made an immediate impact in his freshman season. He played in 10 of 13 games in 2022, mainly contributing on special teams and recording a career-high seven tackles.
In 2023, Terrell continued in a special teams role, finishing the season with six tackles.
Oregon Ducks outside linebacker officially entered the transfer portal on Monday night, as reported by On3. the defender, who redshirted during his freshman season in 2023, played in five games for the Ducks during the 2024 regular season. He now has three years of eligibility remaining following his transfer.
In the 2024 season, Moore recorded six total tackles, including one for loss and half a sack. While his numbers weren’t extensive, Moore played a key role in providing depth on Oregon’s defensive line. With his departure, it remains to be seen whether head coach Dan Lanning will seek a replacement for Moore through the transfer portal.
Oregon’s 2025 recruiting class includes two defensive linemen: four-star Matthew Johnson and three-star Tobi Haastrup.
Moore’s decision to leave the program marks the sixth player to enter the transfer portal from Oregon, following offensive tackle JacQawn McRoy, safety Tyler Turner, cornerback Khamari Terrell, and pass rushers Jaxson Jones and Emar’rion Winston.
Despite these departures, Lanning has been active in utilizing the portal to strengthen the team. Recently, Oregon added Purdue safety Dillon Thieneman and Northwestern cornerback Theran Johnson, both of whom committed to the Ducks in December to bolster the secondary for the 2025 season.
Oregon has lost three edge defenders, and it’s expected that the Ducks will continue to be active in the transfer portal. Lanning and his staff have had notable success bringing in defensive linemen, with Jordan Burch, Derrick Harmon, and Jamaree Caldwell all transferring to Oregon and becoming integral to the team’s potential College Football Playoff push.
On Early National Signing Day, Lanning spoke about his recruiting philosophy, emphasizing the importance of attracting top talent. “We want to have the best and compete to be the best,” Lanning said. “We aim to build the best class because every great coach needs great players, and that’s where it starts.”
In 2023, Oregon signed the top-ranked transfer portal class, according to 247Sports. The question now is whether they can replicate that success in 2025.
As the Ducks prepare for the Rose Bowl, they remain focused on managing the transfer portal while waiting to find out their opponent. The winner of the Ohio State vs. Tennessee game on Dec. 21 will face Oregon in Pasadena on New Year’s Day.
