The Ohio State Buckeyes are losing their second quarterback to the transfer portal. After talented QB announced his departure, the second QB has also decided to enter the portal.
Noland, a quarterback many believed could eventually start for Ohio State, now faces a crowded quarterback room after the Buckeyes brought in Julian Sayin and Tavien St. Clair. With limited opportunities at Ohio State, Noland has chosen to seek a program where he can potentially play sooner.
So, which teams might be a good fit for Noland as he looks for a new home this offseason?
Wynston Wilcox from FanSided has speculated that Alabama could be a strong destination for Noland. The Crimson Tide had recruited Noland out of high school before he chose Ohio State.
“Noland is likely to land at a major program. He was a four-star recruit, according to 247Sports, and Alabama had previously recruited him. The Tide are returning quarterbacks Ty Simpson and Austin Mack, along with a five-star prospect. While Noland may prefer a less crowded quarterback room, he could opt to test his skills at an SEC powerhouse.”
The downside to Alabama as a destination is that, much like Ohio State, the Crimson Tide also has a wealth of quarterback talent. Noland’s main reason for leaving Ohio State is to find a better opportunity for playing time.
However, Noland’s skill set could be a good match for Kalen DeBoer’s offensive system. His strong arm and mobility make him a great fit for what Alabama needs.
Despite entering Ohio State with a lot of potential, Noland leaves without seeing game action. He could join the ranks of former Buckeyes quarterbacks who transferred and found success at other programs.
While this is just a possibility, Alabama could be a realistic destination for Noland. Ohio State fans will wish him well in his next chapter and hope he finds a place where he can thrive and fulfill the potential he showed at Ohio State—provided he isn’t facing the Buckeyes down the road.
