Virginia Cavaliers’ standout wide receiver is said to be entering the transfer portal. The news was initially reported by Wahoos247’s Jacquie Franciulli.
He has been one of the top wide receivers in UVA program history during his four years in Charlottesville. The 6-foot-4 receiver finishes his career ranked ninth in the program for receiving yards, with 1,849 yards, 129 receptions, and 11 touchdowns. In 2024, He even threw two passes for 51 total yards.
He has played a crucial role in the Wahoo offense for the past two seasons. In 2023, he formed a dynamic duo with Malik Washington, and in 2024, he was named UVA’s offensive MVP, leading the team in receiving yards (808), receptions (55), and touchdowns (5). This was especially notable as other receivers struggled to find their rhythm with Trell Harris sidelined for much of the season.
His decision to enter the transfer portal is a significant loss for Virginia. With the recent commitments of quarterbacks Chandler Morris and Daniel Kaelin, the offense was starting to build momentum for 2025. His departure leaves a major void in the wide receiver corps. While the potential return of Trell Harris and Suderian Harris offers hope, with Fields and depth player JR Wilson leaving, head coach Tony Elliott and wide receivers coach Adam Mims will need to rely on the portal to find new talent to support Morris.
Fields’ departure, following that of Anthony Colandrea, marks a major shift for Virginia’s program. If the player exits stop here, it will be seen as a win for Elliott and his staff. However, attention will turn to other key players, including defensive tackle Jahmeer Carter and linebacker Kam Robinson, whose decisions may come in the following week.
