The Boston Red Sox are trading for left-handed pitcher according to an initial report by Julian McWilliams of the Boston Globe on Wednesday.
He was a highly sought-after player in this offseason’s trade market, with the Mets and Yankees being the most active teams in pursuing the starter.
As reported by Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the trade sends catching prospect Kyle Teel, outfield prospect Braden Montgomery, infield prospect Chase Meidroth, and right-handed pitching prospect Wikelman Gonzalez to the White Sox.
Teel (ranked 4th), Montgomery (6th), and Meidroth (8th) all feature in Baseball America’s 2025 prospect rankings for the Red Sox, placing them within the top 10.
At 25 years old, Crochet was a highly sought-after player during this year’s trade deadline, but the White Sox chose to retain him.
In 2024, Crochet successfully made the transition from reliever to starter, excelling in longer outings. Over 32 starts, he recorded a 3.58 ERA and struck out 209 batters in 146 innings. His 2.69 FIP was the second-best in the American League, behind only Tigers left-hander Tarik Skubal, who won the AL Cy Young (minimum 140 innings).
