Hokies fans didn’t get to see much of safety after he injured his shoulder in the 2024 season opener. Now, they’ll watch him finish his final year with a different team.
the gifted player entered the transfer portal when it officially opened on Monday, according to a report from 247Sports.
Tech had high expectations for Stroman, who was a versatile starter entering his senior season with 106 career tackles. However, he suffered a shoulder injury while diving for a tackle against Vanderbilt and did not play again.
Stroman could redshirt and return for an additional year of eligibility.
He finishes his career at Virginia Tech with 111 tackles over 36 games and eight starts.
His departure weakens the depth at safety, where he was expected to be a starter in 2025. The position is becoming younger, with Jaylen Jones having used up his eligibility.
Redshirt sophomore Mose Phillips, who started every game, and freshman Quentin Reddish, a key reserve, are the main returners. However, there is limited experience behind them, with Devin Alves, Braylon Johnson, Cameren Fleming, and Noah Jenkins making up the rest of the group. As a result, the Hokies will likely focus on adding depth at this position through the portal.
