Another Major Setback: Bills Hit with Major Loss as World-Class Star Decommits from Program

In a disappointing turn of events, the Buffalo Bills have been dealt a major setback as world-class star officially decommitted from their program. The unexpected move has left the team reeling, as they now face the challenge of finding a replacement for the high-profile prospect who was expected to make a significant impact on their roster.

Bills Sign Birmingham Stallions WR Deon Cain

Cain, who joined the Bills late in training camp and had been on and off their roster throughout the season, will now look for a new opportunity in the NFL or could return to the United Football League (UFL) with the Birmingham Stallions in the spring.

Cain spent two seasons with the Stallions to get back into the NFL. In 2023, he briefly signed with the Philadelphia Eagles but was not re-signed to their practice squad.

Cain was a sixth-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts. He spent one full season there before joining the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2019 after multiple injuries hit their wide receiver group. Cain made some notable plays during the Steelers’ season with quarterbacks Mason Rudolph and Duck Hodges. However, the Steelers moved on from him in 2020, and he later joined the Baltimore Ravens. After suffering a training camp injury, Cain was released from injured reserve and signed by the Eagles.

Over the next few years, Cain bounced between the Eagles’ roster and practice squad, eventually signing with the USFL’s Birmingham Stallions. With the Stallions, Cain earned the USFL Championship Game MVP award in 2022 after catching three touchdowns, and helped lead the team to back-to-back championships. At 28 years old, Cain will continue to seek opportunities in professional football, whether in the NFL or returning to the UFL.
