BREAKING: Done deal, Red Sox sign gifted left-hander to bolster squad depth

Veteran reliever  is set to join the Boston Red Sox.

Although the team did not officially announce the signing on Tuesday, multiple sources informed ESPN that He is heading to Boston on a one-year, $10.75 million contract, pending a physical.

The left-hander made his intentions known, posting a photo of himself wearing a Red Sox cap and captioned, “Let’s go!”

Chapman, 36, made his MLB debut in 2010 as a 22-year-old fireballer, reaching speeds of 105.8 mph in his rookie season with the Cincinnati Reds. He played six seasons in Cincinnati before stints with the Chicago Cubs (2016), New York Yankees (2016-2022), Kansas City Royals (2023), Texas Rangers (2023), and Pittsburgh Pirates (2024).

A winner of the 2019 AL Rivera Reliever Award and a seven-time All-Star, Chapman captured a World Series title with the Yankees in 2016 and with the Rangers.

In his lone season with the Pirates, Chapman finished with a 5-5 record, a 3.79 ERA, 14 saves, and 98 strikeouts across 61 2/3 innings in 68 appearances.

Over his career, Chapman has a 55-45 record with a 2.63 ERA in 796 games and 335 saves.
