Huge blow: Dodgers To Cut Ties With World Series Hero Following $182 Million Signing

The Los Angeles Dodgers strengthened their already formidable roster on Tuesday night by reaching a $182 million agreement with San Francisco Giants ace Blake Snell. In order to accommodate Snell’s arrival, the Dodgers will likely need to part ways with several players.

FanSided’s Wynston Wilcox anticipates that one of the Dodgers’ long-time starting pitchers will be let go. Wilcox expects Los Angeles to allow Buehler to explore free agency as he seeks a short-term contract.

“It looks like the Dodgers chose Snell over Walker Buehler. Buehler didn’t have a strong 2024 season. He posted a 1-6 record 16 starts this past season with a 5.38 ERA and 1.55 WHIP. Despite a strong showing in the postseason and World Series, the Dodgers were ready to move on,” Wilcox wrote. “Buehler spent a fair amount of 2024 on the injury list and after a return from a hip injury, he did enough to help the Dodgers win a championship. Only time will tell if this was a reasonable upgrade.”

Walker Buehler Could Join Dodgers' NL Rival, Says MLB Insider

Parting ways with Buehler seems like the clear choice for the Dodgers. With no current spot for him in their rotation, he could benefit from a fresh start with a new team.

Buehler is likely to secure a one- or two-year deal with a borderline-contending team as he seeks to revive his career after dealing with several significant injuries.
