‘That Sounds Bad’: Detroit Tigers Player Makes Incredibly Awkward Comment

Detroit Tigers pitcher Beau Brieske had a rather uniquely phrased reason for wanting to meet Abraham Lincoln during Sunday’s game.

The Tigers played the New York Yankees in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, for this year’s Little League Classic. In addition to interacting with Little League players, the major leaguers recorded player introductions similar to those seen during the Little League World Series. These introductions were shown at the start of the broadcast, featuring players from both teams answering various personal questions.

Yankees outfielder Juan Soto shared that his favorite food is Dominican cuisine, while infielder Ben Rice mentioned that he loves his father’s pancakes. Tigers pitcher Jason Foley simply stated that his favorite food is pizza.

When the players were asked which historical figure they’d like to meet, Beau Brieske named Abraham Lincoln, given Lincoln’s prominence in American history, the answer was understandable.

However, Brieske’s explanation was awkwardly phrased. He said, “One person I would love to meet is Abraham Lincoln. I’d just like to pick his brain, to be quite honest with you. That sounds bad now that I say it.”

Lincoln was famously assassinated by John Wilkes Booth in 1865, suffering a gunshot wound to the head and dying a few hours later.
