Huge Boost: Texas Longhorns landed one of their biggest commitments of the summer

On Friday afternoon, the Texas Longhorns secured a commitment from four-star offensive tackle Nick Brooks from Grayson High School in Loganville, GA, marking one of their most significant additions for the 2025 recruiting cycle.

Brooks, a highly sought-after recruit due to his position’s high demand in the SEC, is expected to make an immediate impact upon joining the team. Standing at an impressive 6-foot-7 and weighing 360 pounds, Brooks embodies the ‘big human’ ideal of the Texas recruiting staff and possesses the athleticism and skills to excel at any top program.

So why did he choose Texas?

In a recent interview with On3’s Chad Simmons, Brooks revealed that his official visit to Texas played a crucial role in his decision. “I knew on the official visit,” Brooks shared. “That’s when I made my choice. The experience during the visit really solidified my decision to pick Texas. After the visit, I discussed it with my family, took some time to reflect, and ultimately realized Texas was where I wanted to be. They had my heart.”

Brooks, who opted for Texas over USC, Georgia, and Iowa, is ranked as a four-star recruit, the No. 208 player nationally, the No. 17 offensive tackle, and the No. 30 player in Georgia.

What set Texas apart was not only the atmosphere and coaching staff but also how his family felt during the visit. Brooks highlighted that his family’s positive experience and the warmth they felt from the coaches significantly influenced his decision. “Texas has a lot to offer. I love the coaching staff, the vibe in Austin, and the sense of brotherhood,” Brooks noted. “Seeing my mom and little brother have such a great time on the visit and feeling welcomed by the coaches made a huge difference.”

Brooks’ commitment brings the total number of pledges for Texas’ 2025 class to 17 and is a crucial addition for the program, especially following the departure of five-star recruit Michael Fasusi to rival Oklahoma.
