MAJOR BREAKING: Mariners’ $66 Million Slugger Set To Join Red Sox, Deal Agreed by Both side

The Seattle Mariners still face several challenging choices as the offseason winds down. While they’ve already made some significant moves, additional roster changes could be on the horizon before spring training arrives.

One of Seattle’s top priorities early in the offseason was bringing back Josh Naylor, and the team rewarded him with a lucrative long-term deal. Naylor is expected to anchor the heart of the lineup for years, but the Mariners also suffered a major loss when Jorge Polanco departed for the New York Mets. While that exit hurt, Seattle may not be done losing key bats.

Seattle Mariners infielder Eugenio Suárez

Eugenio Suárez appears poised to move on in free agency. The Mariners have yet to make a strong push to retain him, leaving the door open for Suárez to sign elsewhere in the near future.

Bleacher Report’s Kerry Miller recently connected Suárez to the Boston Red Sox, especially after Boston missed out on Alex Bregman, who signed with the Chicago Cubs.

Miller noted that Boston entered the offseason expecting to either retain Bregman or address third base by signing one of the top Japanese imports, Munetaka Murakami or Kazuma Okamoto. With those options now off the table—and Nolan Arenado no longer available following his trade from St. Louis to Arizona—Suárez has emerged as one of the few viable solutions remaining, unless the Red Sox opt to move forward with Marcelo Mayer at the position.

Boston remains in urgent need of infield help. The organization had been heavily linked to a Bregman reunion, but his decision to join the Cubs left the Red Sox scrambling for alternatives. After signing Ranger Suárez, Boston is also expected to bow out of the Bo Bichette sweepstakes, making Eugenio Suárez an increasingly logical fit.

While Suárez is likely to command a smaller contract than stars like Bichette or Bregman due to his age and slightly diminished production, his power remains elite. He is still one of baseball’s most dangerous home-run hitters, and adding his bat alongside young talents such as Roman Anthony and Jarren Duran could elevate the Red Sox into serious World Series contention this season.
