Will the Atlanta Braves make a move at the upcoming MLB trade deadline? While the deadline is still about two months away, trade rumors are already heating up as potential targets begin to emerge.
Atlanta hasn’t shown many weaknesses this season, owning MLB’s best record at 40-20, but that doesn’t mean the Braves will stand pat. They could still look to strengthen their roster, and one player frequently linked to them in recent speculation is Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran.
Will Jarren Duran finally be traded this summer?
Braves to Trade for Braves Jarren Duran
Jarren Duran is starting to heat up this season, which is raising his trade stock. For the Red Sox, they are rumored to be looking for a right-handed hitter via trade, which could push Duran out of the fold.
In a recent trade predictions piece for SI.com, MLB writer Mark Morales-Smith links the Braves to Jarren Duran:
“We know the Braves aren’t going to make a big splash, adding a big-money superstar, but a player like Duran on an expiring contract is right up their alley. He would bring pop and speed to a lineup that is lacking an everyday left fielder and true DH. Duran brings a lot more value to a starting lineup than players like Mike Yastrzemski and Eli White.”
Morales-Smith makes a good point; the Braves could use some more stability in their corner outfield and a certified DH that can play every day. Dom Smith has fit that role for the Braves recently, but he can’t necessarily play every day anymore.
Jarren Duran this Season…

Jarren Duran endured a sluggish start to the season, but the former 2024 MLB All-Star is beginning to find his rhythm at the plate, which could ultimately drive up his trade value.
Through 53 games, Duran is hitting .219 with 10 home runs, 33 RBIs, nine doubles, a .286 on-base percentage, and a 97 OPS+. Known for producing extra-base hits, Duran has established himself as a dynamic offensive threat over the last few years, and his recent performance suggests he’s starting to regain that form.
The Boston outfielder has launched three home runs in his last five games, providing further evidence that he’s heating up offensively.
As for whether the Atlanta Braves will make a move for Duran, it’s still too early to know. Until credible trade reports emerge, any connection remains speculative. Still, with Atlanta enjoying another outstanding season, rumors linking the Braves to impact players like Duran are likely to continue gaining traction as the trade deadline approaches.
